  • Why did it take so many years to finally place first?

  • I mean, what what is it important to understand about what it takes to create a Mr Olympia?

  • It's a lot of hard work, a lot of dedication, lot of for me, you know, a lot of muscle maturity.

  • You know, my muscles had toe because I never buy the bill before.

  • I was always doing powerless.

  • And so your body have toe be used toe being a bodybuilder, you know, and building up to that, I I never just was trying to build muscle.

  • For most part, I'm just in there just, you know, having fun, enjoying myself and, you know, trying to be strong and as positive trying to be a strongest possibly could, because I was always competing, you know, like how this listing shows here and there.

  • So when I got into bodybuilding, I had to make a completely different change to the way I worked out.

  • You know, I had completely changes.

  • I went from doing, you know, like, 34 cents.

  • Uh, maybe two or three rips to doing, uh, like, 3456 sets.

  • So maybe, like 20 the 30 reps 15 reps or something like that.

  • So it was just a completely different way of training.

  • So somebody had to catch up to being a bodybuilder because it was always just used to being a powerless and just doing thing, uh, in the power away and not, you know, not building it up like, you know, it has to do to get on stage, compete against other guys.

  • I tried to just build my body up to be, you know, on the stage, competing against other guys, like in that way.

  • So it took a long time for Meteo to get to that to that point Thio where I was, you know, really good at it.

  • But once I got there, you know, of course, I was pretty good at it because it takes years to build that muscle mass up.

  • It's like like £10 a year and you got it Just takes many, many, many years to get the mask even £5.

  • Ah, year.

  • It is good a lot.

  • I don't understand that.

  • Yeah, £5 of muscle.

  • Ah, years good too.

  • And that's what I was mostly actually doing, You know, the multi put only years probably like maybe £56 But, you know, after a while it catches up.

  • You know, it is a level of consistency of doing it.

  • That's how you pack it on.

  • You know, you don't just go in.

  • And just if all these ways and, you know, put on all these pounds of muscle in, like, a year or two And it takes years, many years and you have to be patient and a lot of people people are not really patient when they comes Thio packing on the pounds.

  • A lot of people.

  • Well, a lot of people are patient.

  • Yeah.

  • How long did it take you from when you first started bodybuilding to win your first Mr Olympia?

  • How many years was it?

  • So I saw that 98 1 in 98.

  • So I'm saying about eight years.

  • Okay.

  • Okay.

  • 90 was my first bodybuilding contest.

  • It was 19.

  • Date.

  • April 7th, 1990 my first bodybuilding contest.

  • You remember eso It took that many years for you toe.

  • Put the muscle on.

  • Probably learn.

  • Learn the discipline, learn the poses, learn the competition.

  • Because that's a whole new thing to learn, right?

  • Yeah.

  • Learn, learn learn the sport and learn how to be a bodybuilder.

  • Learn how to diet.

  • Learn how to train as a body builder.

  • You know, I'm doing all these things, you know, over all these years, you know, I'm making a lot of mistakes.

  • So it's through trial and error that No, I got to where I waas Wow, not my words.

  • Stop My wife.

  • Uh huh.
