hello it's Jennifer with Tarle Speech with your pronunciation question today's
-
question is how do I pronounce the word interest and the variations of that word
-
interest means curiosity it can also be money that you make for
-
an investment so let's go ahead and take a look at our words alright so let's
-
just talk about the word interest technically it's two beats I think
-
that's the easiest way to say it so we're going to think about saying in
-
trust interest I do hear in trust different vowel variations I think the
-
key here is that you just want to make that vowel short okay cuz I've been
-
getting a lot of questions about variations there are so many variations
-
key as you want to be understood so make that vowel short so for in key here
-
short vowel then touch the tip of the tongue to the back of the top front
-
teeth and air moves out of your nose and next for trist you're going to pull
-
your tongue down and as you pull your tongue down from the T from the back of
-
the top front teeth you're going to move to that R tr tr
-
some people do say that this sounds like a ch it does somewhat sound like a CH
-
but it is not a CH it is a T r in tristand then we're gonna add that is
-
short I and then the S and then we're going to touch the tip of the tongue to the
-
back of the top front teeth or that teeth interest interest interest now for
-
the variations this is where people kind of get confused if you want to say
-
interesting you can say three beats in tris ting or you can say four
-
interesting I hear both pick whichever one is easier for you and stick with
-
that one and then when we add the e D if you want to get fancy um you can make
-
this last T a D and just add it did interest did interested and then
-
quick little tip if you were adding this to another word to make a compound noun
-
remember first word is stressed higher louder and longer vowel second word is
-
unstressed shorter and lower than those words are linked together with no pause
-
interest rate interest rate so let's give those all the try interest
-
interesting interested interest rate you can also say interesting I do hear that
-
and let's give it a try in a sentence your interest and interest
-
rates is interesting so give it a try people are going to notice the
-
difference if you found this helpful please give us a like and share it with
