-Dwayne Johnson, thank you so much for coming on our show.
-
I appreciate it so much, man.
-
You know I love you. How are you doing?
-
How is the fam? You look good.
-
-Thank you, man, I'm doing good.
-
I'm doing as good as can be, right,
-
like you and like a lot of us trying to do as well
-
as can be to manage this thing that we are all managing.
-
The family is good, thank God.
-
We were shooting in Georgia when this whole thing went down.
-
So instead of going back to California, I thought,
-
"You know what? Why risk it?
-
Why travel?
-
Let's just stay locked down here.
-
Bring my mom in."
-
And we all just got locked down, the dog included.
-
So we have been down here for months and months.
-
-We love your mom.
-
You know, I brought in the new year with your mom.
-
-Yes.
-
That is an understatement.
-
-[ Laughs ] -You did bring in the new year.
-
So I'm going to tell a little bit of the story.
-
So I get a text from my mom saying,
-
"We're here. Jimmy Fallon's here with his wife."
-
So you guys are eating at a restaurant on New Year's Eve.
-
I am at home with Lauren.
-
My mom and Lauren's mom, they go to eat at this restaurant
-
where you guys were at, you and your lovely wife.
-
"Jimmy Fallon is here with his wife.
-
I'm gonna go say hi."
-
I text back, capital letters, "No!"
-
-[ Laughs ] -"Leave them alone!
-
Don't do it!"
-
She says, "I'm going, that's it."
-
Because she loves you, man.
-
And so, she went up
-
and she introduced herself to you, right?
-
-Your beautiful mom comes over and she goes, "Hello."
-
I go, "Hi," and she goes, "I just got to say, I'm a fan."
-
She goes, "And my son is Dwayne Johnson."
-
I go, "I love Dwayne, too.
-
We love him.
-
I've been friends with him now for --"
-
She's like, "He loves you, too," blah, blah, blah.
-
So we just started talking.
-
I go, "We got to get a picture."
-
She goes, "Oh, I don't want to bother you."
-
I go, "Let's get one."
-
So we get a picture, and it's probably --
-
I want to say 5:30.
-
-Yeah, it's early.
-
-Yeah, in the evening.
-
Early evening.
-
And then, I said, "We got to send him a crazier picture.
-
Hold on." So I went around the restaurant
-
and I found tiaras and balloons. -[ Laughs ]
-
-And we had an empty champagne bottle.
-
And we pretend -- I go, "Let's pretend we're partying.
-
And don't send this to him until like, you know,
-
midnight or 1:00 in the morning or something like that."
-
-[ Laughs ] -So we pretend to be like --
-
we are like, you know, all this stuff.
-
I go, "Oh, it will be great."
-
So then they're just laughing and we're laughing
-
and having so much fun.
-
She is like, "You got it --
-
Jimmy, you've got to see this photo.
-
It's really funny."
-
She said, "I already sent it to Dwayne.
-
I couldn't help myself." I go, "Let me see it."
-
And when I went over, a waiter went over,
-
where we would cross and he knocked over
-
this actual bottle of champagne and ice
-
that someone else had ordered and it went all over the floor
-
and everyone is like, "Oh, sorry."
-
And I go, "No, no, no, get your camera back out.
-
Get your camera." And I move my tie.
-
-Perfect. -I move my tie, open my --
-
-[ Laughs ]
-
I go, "Send this to him at 2:00 in the morning."
-
[ Laughter ]
-
So then, you called and she goes, "Dwayne wants to say hi."
-
So you and your lovely wife paid for our dinner that night.
-
And I appreciate that
-
because that gave us a good New Year's Eve luck.
-
It was actually great. -Aww.
-
-We are going to have a great year.
-
So we love that.
-
That was very kind of you.
-
Thank you very much for that.
-
-I saved them both. It's totally cool.
-
[ Laughter ] -It was just great, man.
-
It was really honestly one of the most memorable New Year's
-
I have had in a long time.
-
And I loved it.
-
-That's awesome, man. -So please give your mom --
-
-Thank you for being so cool and kind to our moms.
-
I mean, that's the ticket, you know what I mean?
-
It's like -- we always got -- whenever --
-
if there is differences, whatever is going on
-
in the world and moms come around,
-
you've always got to take care of the mamas.
-
-Moms come first. How are the girls?
-
I saw there was one Instagram that it looked like
-
it was someone's birthday?
-
Did they have a piñata?
-
-[ Laughs ] Yes, yes.
-
It's baby Tia.
-
She turned two.
-
And Jasmine, who is four, you know,
-
she has a swing of Hank Aaron.
-
It's crazy. And so, we couldn't --
-
I was trying to hang it, hang the piñata by the tree.
-
It was a Peppa Pig piñata.
-
-Yeah. -And she insists, she's like,
-
"No, you hold it, Daddy, you hold it."
-
I'm like, "Okay," and I'm just trying to hold it.
-
My hips are back.
-
So, bang, by the way.
-
I can't have kids anymore, but it's okay.
-
[ Laughter ]
-
-Surprisingly, no candy came out.
-
[ Laughter ] -No candy!
-
Just tears from Daddy.
-
[ Laughter ]
-
-Oh, my gosh. -But they are doing good, man.
-
How about you? How's your girls?
-
-They're all great.
-
You know, they're in the other room
-
right now homeschooling so they're not going to run in
-
and interrupt this interview, hopefully.
