-Every time you come here, I learn about another job
-
you had before you were an actor.
-
-Endless jobs. -Yeah, you did.
-
-I mean, because you were a tour guide.
-
-Yeah, well, essentially. -Kind of.
-
-Kind of. -The travel show.
-
-With the travel show. Yep, yep, yep.
-
-Then I found out you used to interview --
-
-I used to be on that end of the interview, sort of.
-
I used to go to red carpet events
-
and stand in line and wait for stars to come past
-
and kind of call their name and ask for interviews.
-
And, yeah. And then I made the switch
-
to sort of be on the red carpet on that side.
-
-Who was the biggest celebrity you interviewed?
-
Do you remember?
-
-I covered all of the "Harry Potter" stuff.
-
So, Daniel Radcliffe
-
when he was sort of, like, quite young at that time,
-
I used to sort of be infatuated with him.
-
And just, like, I remember just, like, shaking nervously,
-
just, like, sort of asking these questions
-
and waiting in those hot rooms
-
and sort of interviewing all of these amazing people.
-
-Did you ever think that you would be on the other side?
-
-Never. Never once did it cross my mind.
-
-Really? -But --
-
But you know what? It was a shift.
-
It sort of -- When the opportunities came,
-
when I switched from hairdresser to become a sort of presenter,
-
it was literally me focusing on that particular goal.
-
You know? It's almost --
-
We go around with blinkers on our eyes.
-
And we sort of focus in on one thing.
-
But something brighter and bigger and better
-
is just off to the side.
-
But we're like, "No, no, no. This is my path.
-
This is my path." So luckily, I was able to switch that.
-
-So what is your advice
-
to anyone who wants to switch careers?
-
-Just -- It could be simple
-
as just introducing yourself as who you want.
-
Instead of, "Hi. I'm Henry the hairdresser,"
-
"Hi. I'm Henry the presenter,"
-
or now, "Hi. I'm Henry the actor,"
-
which is amazing.
-
-Just say that.
-
[ Cheers and applause ]
-
I like that. That was good. I like that.
-
-Not too bad. Not too bad.
-
-I mean, you've been crushing it,
-
I mean, crushing it in these movies.
-
First of all, I just want to say
-
that the first time you were on my show, I had a prediction.
-
Do you remember what I said to you?
-
-I think I do remember.
-
-I said that you should be the next James Bond.
-
-That was your prediction. That definitely was.
-
-And I mean it. I think you should be the next James --
-
-You think? -Yes.
-
-Oh, man. -And I'm not the only one
-
who's thinking this, because I just found out
-
in Vegas, you can bet on anything.
-
-Yeah, just about.
-
-There are odds. [ Laughter ]
-
There's 10-1 odds that you're going to be the next James Bond.
-
-Hey!
-
[ Cheers and applause ]
-
-That's pretty good.
-
-That's good company. I'm not going to lie.
-
Richard Madden right there at the top.
-
-Yeah, Richard Madden.
-
Hiddleston, Fassbender,
-
Idris Elba.
-
Who would you bet on, if not yourself?
-
-So if I had my money and definitely not myself,
-
Idris Elba.
-
Who wants to see Idris kick some butt?
-
-No. -He's amazing.
-
-I want to see you do it. I think you would be fantastic.
-
-I mean, if you're a male movie star,
-
it is literally the most iconic role possible.
-
I mean, you'd be an absolute idiot
-
not to sort of think and sort of aspire for a role like that.
-
So --
-
-I mean -- -Who knows?
-
-But if you do get it,
-
maybe he has, like, a funny brother.
-
[ Laughter ]
-
-A funny-looking brother?
-
-Yeah, kind of average-looking --
-
Average-looking brother who's funny, and he hangs out with him
-
-Like "Step Brothers" but with spies.
-
-Yes, exactly.
-
And I could help you out but, like, screw up things.
-
I'm not saying me, but I'm saying "I" in general.
-
-We'll pitch it to Barbara Broccoli.
-
-Yeah, hey, talk to the Broccoli family.
-
Exactly. You know exactly who.
