Our first guest is not only my friend,
-
but she starred on a little show called Friends.
-
Please welcome my friend, your friend, Courteney Cox.
-
Hi, there.
-
[CLAPS]
-
Hi, Courteney.
-
Hi.
-
How are you?
-
So you're here for the Mother's Day show.
-
We have-- can you see all the moms
-
that are watching right now?
-
Oh my God.
-
Hi, everybody.
-
Hi.
-
Yes.
-
Hi.
-
That's crazy.
-
I love it.
-
First time moms, what kind of advice do you have for them?
-
First time, OK.
-
Well, I had extraordinary heartburn.
-
So if you have that, Gaviscon is a good solution.
-
Sleep while you can.
-
And I would probably say when they get--
-
when you have the baby, be careful with the kind of bed
-
you buy them because Coco, she was
-
obsessed with a princess bed.
-
And I got her the nicest one.
-
It was the most comfortable.
-
And I literally have not seen her since.
-
That's all good advice.
-
Good, strong advice.
-
Anyway, it's a beautiful thing that's about to happen.
-
And then one day, we'll have a 15-year-old.
-
She's about to turn 16, right, Coco?
-
She turns 16 in June.
-
She's not little.
-
She's-- yeah, I know.
-
That's how we know how old we are
-
when the kids are like-- when we're getting to that age.
-
I judge by celebrity babies where
-
I am in terms of getting older.
-
But she's-- but she's a good one,
-
even though you said that you want her to play piano and sing
-
more than she really wants to.
-
Well, she gets mad at me-- oh, great, my phone's ringing.
-
She gets mad at me because she thinks I'm using her for posts.
-
And she's not wrong.
-
Right.
-
She's got a great voice.
-
She really does have a beautiful voice.
-
She has a gorgeous voice.
-
But she-- you run out of material.
-
So it's every now and then, I bribe her for a song.
-
Yeah.
-
May I say, Courteney, that you do seem
-
to be running out of material?
-
Thanks.
-
What do I do?
-
No.
-
I mean, at first, you weren't even on Instagram.
-
And now, you're doing just about anything with the whole--
-
the face thing, the extorted faces and the--
-
I like it.
-
You know how--
-
I like it.
-
--embarrassing I am?
-
I'm literally doing TikToks.
-
That's what we fight about.
-
Coco's like, oh my God, it's so--
-
oh, yeah, well, that was a good one.
-
[LAUGHS]
-
It's a young people's world.
-
I'm waiting for-- oh, oh, that is embarrassing.
-
Here's another thing.
-
I have better timing than that video.
-
Instagram needs to-- oh, look at him.
-
Instagram needs to work on their--
-
when you post something, it sometimes lags.
-
And I-- it shows that--
-
looks like my dancing isn't quite as good as it is kind of.
-
I know what you're talking about because sometimes I
-
dance with tWitch when he's dancing to break.
-
And it looks like I'm not dancing to the same song.
-
But there's a lag time.
-
So it does look like we're not dancing to that song.
-
That's right.
-
It's hard.
-
That's the anticipation that this quarantine is teaching us.
-
You have to know what the beat is two seconds before it
-
happens, then you're an excellent dancer
-
if you can anticipate the beat.
-
It's so funny.
-
Now, Johnny's not quarantining with you, right?
-
Didn't he have to go back to--
-
he left the country right before the quarantine.
-
He left.
-
He went to-- he was supposed to go to Switzerland to write.
-
And instead, he had to go to England first.
-
And then all of a sudden, it happened.
-
And they called a quarantine.
-
So I have not seen him in so long.
-
And you don't realize.
-
I mean, we spend a lot of time on FaceTime.
-
But now, it's like oh my God, I just miss his physical touch,
-
just all of it.
-
It's really-- it's been hard.
-
This is the longest time.
-
Yeah.
-
That's enough.
-
We don't need to know what you miss.
-
[LAUGHS] So let's talk about--
-
Just erase everything.
-
--let's talk about-- no, I understand.
-
I think that would be really hard,
-
especially you're in a relationship.
-
But you can't be with them because you're--
-
anyway, you started bingeing, binge watching Friends
-
because you really didn't remember it?
-
I know.
-
It's really sad.
-
But I didn't remember at all.
-
I was-- and people ask me all the time, will you do a quiz,
-
or let's play this game where see who
-
knows the characters the most.
-
I don't remember.
-
I do-- I remember the people.
-
I just-- and I remember specific things that happened.
-
But my memory is not great when it comes to fun times.
-
I only remember pain I think.
-
So I started watching.
-
I've been bingeing it.
-
It's really good, it turns out.
-
And the Thanksgiving episodes are my favorite.
-
And the first season-- well, I'll be honest,
-
I'm only on the first season.
-
But that's the Thanksgiving one where we all had the flashback.
-
And I was overweight Monica.
-
And I loved playing overweight Monica because I felt so free.
-
I could dance like you, just sit up and dance
-
and have no problem at all.
-
And I just-- I did love it.
-
Those are really good episodes.
-
Yeah.
-
No, it was a good show, it turns out, yeah.
-
But I understand-- so now, there was supposed to be a reunion.
-
And now, you're using it to raise money for the All
-
In Challenge that Leo and Robert De Niro started.
-
That's right.
-
Yeah, we were supposed to do the show
-
I think at the beginning of March or the middle of march.
-
And now, we don't know when we're doing it.
-
But we are raising--
-
we've raised a lot of money so far.
-
And you can still apply.
-
And you get to have you plus five friends
-
can come watch the show.
-
And that's the first time-- that's actually
-
will be the third time that we've all been in the same room
-
in the last 15 years.
-
But it'll be a lot more than just us in the same room.
-
We'll be doing fun stuff and talking, reminiscing.
-
Yeah.
-
And it gave you time to binge watch before you shoot it.
-
So you will remember things.
-
I'm going to finish all nine-- the next nine.
-
Yeah.
-
So the coronavirus--
-
I didn't realize this because we've texted back and forth.
-
But you actually had your friends
-
who were staying with you contract COVID.
-
Yeah, OK, so I've had two friends staying here.
-
We all-- we had actually-- we were all safe.
-
Everything was OK.
-
They left for three days.
-
And in those three days, they both got COVID.
-
And one was completely asymptomatic.
-
And the other, it took him down.
-
He had-- they came back to the house.
-
They didn't realize.
-
We were all here.
-
I mean, very close.
-
I mean, I've never been so close to--
-
I mean, I was right with him.
-
I didn't realize because we thought we were all safe.
-
And it turns out that he had to--
-
he had symptoms, three days later--
-
three days after that, he was in the hospital on a ventilator,
-
kidneys shut down.
-
This is a very young athletic guy.
-
And it's just crazy how it can hit some people.
-
And his husband is completely asymptomatic.
-
Now, my friend is out of the hospital.
-
And it was a miracle.
-
It really was.
-
But it touched home.
-
Wow.
-
It was scary.
-
Wow.
-
We're gonna take a break.
-
More with Courteney after this.
-
