  • There's a new Nancy Drew series on the CW

  • that's premiering this Wednesday, October 9.

  • And to celebrate, they wanted to give someone in my audience

  • a chance to win $25,000.

  • I know.

  • So we're going to play a game.

  • But I need a contestant.

  • So raise your hand if--

  • just raise your hand.

  • Raise your hand if you are someone who

  • is encouraging kids to read.

  • Oh, me, me, me.

  • All right.

  • Keep your hand raised if you have a bookmobile that

  • provides free books to kids.

  • Keep your hand raised if your bookmobile is in Georgia.

  • Keep your hand raised if your name is Stan Tucker.

  • Come on!

  • [MUSIC PLAYING]

  • Hi Stan Tucker!

  • How are you doing, Ellen?

  • I'm good.

  • How are you?

  • It appeared-- have a seat-- everybody

  • was going to raise their hand for anything.

  • And then someone else apparently has a bookmobile somewhere

  • that we should check out.

  • She kept her hand raised.

  • All right, so this is really wonderful that you're here

  • on this day, because you're providing out

  • of your own pocket books for these kids to read, right?

  • Mostly, yes.

  • Yes, yes.

  • Yeah.

  • So you have a story about one homeless kid that you wanted--

  • what's the story about that?

  • Yes.

  • So every time I think of this story, I get the chills.

  • About two years ago, I went to a school

  • and gave books to all the kids.

  • And about two months later, the teacher called me back and was

  • like, this boy who'd been traveling from house

  • to house because he was homeless took that book

  • wherever he went.

  • And he was reading it so much that the cover was coming off

  • of the book.

  • And when I think about all the sacrifices

  • that I made to get this program up and running,

  • hearing stories like that makes it worth it.

  • And we think that it's just a book for a kid.

  • But sometimes that's everything for those kids.

  • It-- yeah.

  • Wow.

  • What a sweet guy you are.

  • All right.

  • So obviously, you don't need the money.

  • You're independently wealthy.

  • That's right.

  • That's right.

  • I'll cut you a check now.

  • Yeah, but just in case you could use a little extra,

  • we're going to play Holey Roller.

  • And you have a chance to win $25,000, all right?

  • Wow.

  • Now, listen.

  • I'm going to show you how easy it is.

  • I mean, I'm not going to take time aiming.

  • I'm just going to do that, and I'm going to miss.

  • But look.

  • You're going to have two tries, OK?

  • All right.

  • So good luck.

  • [DRUM ROLL]

  • Ready?

  • Ready.

  • Do it.

  • No.

  • No.

  • No.

  • No.

  • All right.

  • No.

  • That was too bad.

  • No.

  • I didn't do my bowling.

  • No, no.

  • What you did is you tried to copy me.

  • That's right.

  • You modeled it.

  • I am so sorry.

  • I should have shown you how to put it through the hole.

  • I was just showing you how to roll the ball.

  • I didn't realize you were going to--

  • OK.

  • All right.

  • [DRUM ROLL]

  • Oh, boy.

  • I tried to put it over because there was a stick in the floor.

  • You overcompensated is what I would say.

  • Yeah.

  • You didn't make it.

  • But you know what?

  • You deserve the money.

  • So here's a check for $25,000.

  • You're a good guy.

  • Don't forget to watch the new series, Nancy Drew, starting

  • Wednesday, October 9, on the CW.

  • We'll be right back.
