  • According to NBC news, 1 out of 5 adults has cheated on their partner.

  • That's a full 22% of people in monogamous relationships.

  • So how can you tell if you are being cheated on?

  • I'll tell you.

  • #1.

  • Your partner guards their phone or computer obsessively.

  • Everyone has the right to their own space, so I am not giving you permission to police your partner's communications.

  • What I am saying, is you should take notice of your partner going out of their way to guard their phone or email.

  • If your partner won't let you search for photo that was taken with their phone, won't answer calls while you are in the room, or freaks out when you touch their laptop it may be a sign.

  • Your partner might even go as far as deleting simple business-related texts and then saying that he's deleting them for the sake of not stressing you out.

  • Bullshit.

  • #2.

  • Your partner changes their tone of voice on the phone.

  • I know it seems strange, but a recent study found people actually change their tone when speaking to a romantic partner.

  • A woman will lower her pitch, and a man will raise his pitch.

  • #3.

  • Your partner is emotionally checked out.

  • They no longer confide and share with you and if anything the disconnect keeps growing.

  • #4.

  • Your partner insists on doing more things without you.

  • You used to ride together to the grocery store or go run errands.

  • Now, your partner wants to drive alone.

  • They may say they are going to run an errand that you won't be interested in, but you suspect otherwise.

  • If this pattern becomes a regular occurrence, something might be up.

  • #5.

  • Your partner may start paying more attention to their physical appearance.

  • Of course, this could be because they just want to look and feel better but it could also be because they are looking to impress somebody.

  • Especially if the person doesn't seem to care about your compliments or is focusing on doing things to look better without even sharing about those goals, it may be a clue that something is up.

  • #6.

  • Your partner might start being critical of you.

  • That's because they are now comparing you to the other person they are with and their minds are only pointing out why that relationship works and not yours.

  • It's a way of justifying their cheating.

  • #7.

  • Your partner treats you with suspicion.

  • Your partner's jealousy has been at an all time high lately.

  • Maybe you dressed up for dinner, but they wonder out loud who you want to impress.

  • If you innocently smile at the bartender, they may view it as flirting.

  • Now that they are cheating, they suddenly may think you might not be so faithful.

  • #8.

  • You have a gut feeling.

  • Humans have developed intuition for a reason.

  • Many times, our subconscious mind knows something before our conscious mind does.

  • If you can't shake the feeling, it could be because there is something there.

  • Try to figure out why you feel this way, and communicate your concerns with your partner.

  • That being said, you can't expect somebody who is potentially cheating, hence already lying to you.

  • To be honest, so it may have to take some figuring out to know what is really happening.

  • Just a single one of the clues that I've mentioned might not mean anything on their own but a few might mean that you are being cheated on.

  • No matter what, be sure to stay calm and stick to the facts.

  • Depending on what you find or find out, it's up to you as to what happens next.

  • Regardless, there isn't anything you can't handle.
