be remiss without teaching you how to pronounce my fantastic hometown of

Pittsburgh Pennsylvania so let's take a look at our words Pittsburgh

Pennsylvania lots and lots of letters lots and lots of syllables but we're
-
going to break this down and make this very very simple let's start with the
-
word Pittsburgh most people get confused for a couple of reasons the u r
-
that throws people off and then this H at the end the H is silent thank
-
goodness we don't have to worry about that and the UR we are going to
-
pronounce that as an er so let's look at the two syllables Pitts burgh Pittsburgh
-
we're going to stress syllable one so we're going to make that louder longer
-
and higher in pitch Pittsburgh and we're going to add Pennsylvania let's
-
think of this in words that are simple to remember pencil that you write with
-
vain and yeah pencil vein yeah Pennsylvania Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and
-
keep in mind when you're pronouncing two things together like a city and a state
-
you're going to want to pause between those if you're struggling with them a
-
little bit and also remember to stress the first word so Pittsburgh
